no wonder it felt busy
Jul. 11th, 2020 11:34 pmToday I:
* Got up early, stuck my nose briefly into the Friday Night Calontir Bardic, and determined that it was good.
* Popped out of the bardic and into my (now bi-weekly) Happy Hour meeting with my sisters for an hour or so
* Popped back into Calontir Bardic and stayed till Caroline arrived at 10:00
* Chatted briefly with Caroline before she went out to mow the lawn (asked her to please put the grass clippings by the strawberry patch for me.
* Ate breakfast with Julia, who had just gotten up
* Baked a yummy custardy cake
* Went outside and ate smultrons (wild strawberries), put the grass clippings into the strawberry patch around the berries
* ripped grass out from growing over the smultrons next to the raspberry patch, and out from around the raspberries
* Ate lunch
* Went with Julia to a small candy shop in Gammelstad that I didn't know existed to buy some candy that one can't get anywhere else for her friends in Åland.
* Waited outside the store with Julia till the previous customers finished making their selections and left.
* Got a video call from E just as we were about to walk into the store, so I showed E the store, promised to call back later, and hung up.
* Since we were there I bought one pack of the shop's burnt butter caramel, and one of their vanilla with sea salt caramel (which were what the owner recommended when I mentioned that I don't have a sweet tooth but love butter and cream). Tasted them on the way back to the car--both are very yummy, but sweet enough that one bite was enough--the rest are now in a glass jar awaiting the next time that I want a little "home made" candy.
* Went grocery shopping
* Stopped at the local farm supply store near the grocery store and bought a battery operated mosquito repelling thingie (D already has a couple that run on lighter fluid, and we went in to look for replacement fuel canisters, but then I saw this one, and decided that it was time to to have one one my own, and why not try one that is rechargeable?).
* Put away the perishable groceries and made dinner
* Took dinner to the computer and let E know I was home
* Talked with E, and wrote a letter to the Luleå Hembygdsgille and Norrbottens Spelmans Förbund asking if one or both organisation would be so kind as to invite her to do her "Professionalism" with them, as a volunteer doing dance cultural exchange or helping out with odd jobs at events, or whatever
* Did my yoga
* Put away the rest of the groceries
* Read the letter from a certain president explaining why his "great country" sent me a check this week
* re-potted the pomegranate plant I was given yesterday
* Saw the message from a friend asking if I had seen the photos of him he'd shared, so instead of heading to bed, returned to the computer to take a look and reply.
* Having done that, I posted here, too.
Now I think I will take a shower, go to bed, practice a bit of Duolingo Finnish and then Swedish, and get some sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will include some soapstone carving. I have that mosquito-repeller to test out, after all.
