lucky timing
Jun. 2nd, 2008 12:30 pmThe list of things "to discuss with my advisor" had gotten long enough that I decided to take the trip down the hill this morning to see if he was in. I arrived bright an early, set up my computer, and went downstairs to re-fill my water bottle. While I was on that floor, checked his office to see if he were in yet (it was only 08:24). He was, and we chatted briefly, then I fetched my computer and we discussed many topics in great length. As we were wrapping up the discussion he got a phone call, wondering where he was. Apparently he was meant to be some place "on the Eastern Shore" at 09:00, and we'd talked long enough that it was 11:40! Oops. Apparently he hadn't yet looked in his "diary" (which is what Australian's call their daily planner) yet when I arrived, and then my computer got set down atop it, so he didn't think to look. So I got a three hour meeting on someone else's time. Good thing (from my perspective) that I checked as early as I did--if I'd waited till 9:00 he would probably have checked that "diary" and been out the door! Hope the other party wasn't too inconvenienced!
It is now just about an hour later and I've managed to type up notes on *part* of what we discussed, and have ideas of the 347,000 (more or less) things I need to do next...
