I found a home for it
Oct. 1st, 2014 08:41 pmRemember the grant application I got help translating into Swedish? Well, today the lady who did that translating work told me that she wants the hat I accidentally made, but can't afford to buy it, and doesn't have anything to offer in trade. I told her that in my world, she had already offered something with huge value in trade, by having done that translating, so the hat is hers. There is an SCA event at the end of the month in Umeå (about three hours south of here). She won't be coming up for it (she lives in Sundsvall, about another three hours further south), but one of her friends will, so I will pass the hat on to the friend at the event and it will get to her soon enough.
She tells me that she loves doing that sort of translating work, and I love nålbinding, so now I have a translator on tap whenever I need one, and when she thinks she has done more hours of translating than the worth of the hat she can let me know and I can stitch something else. Everyone wins.
In other news my first day of work on the new job went well. I have met one of the people who has done much of the work involved in ordering the lab equipment and am in contact with the company sales rep. The plan now is for delivery week 42 (for those of you outside Sweden who don't know your week numbers, we are now half way through week 40), if all goes well.
Our friends didn't make it over for dinner tonight--the wife went into labor, so they went to the hospital to have a child instead. Hopefully it all went (or is going) well. Luckily, I knew there was a chance this would happen, so I had made lasagna, which freezes well. So now I have a bunch of lasagna in the freezer and a bit more in the fridge to eat the next few days, and
lord_kjar and I had a lovely candlelit dinner together before our housemate got home (after which she also enjoyed the yummy lasagna, fruit salad, and green salad I had made).
