today slipped by terribily fast

Only did about four hours of uni work today, and a good chunk of that was applying for another post doc position. No new words per se, as I decided to focus on getting the figures for this chapter into a printable format, rather than scattered here and there in various excel files. This is because when I give my advisor the chapter, it would be also nice to give him the figures at the same time--it being easier for him to comment on the text if he can look at the figures the text describes. Not enough, not nearly enough.

I went out for a trike ride this morning. It takes 24 minutes to get into Margate as far as the church at Nireina Rd, and another 41 minutes to get home again. Fortunately, whilst there is a net elevation loss on the outbound trip and a gain on the inbound trip, in reality it is gentle rolling hills both ways, so neither direction seems arduous. When I got home I did the job application and then took a much longer nap than intended before sitting down to do uni work. Alas, before I really got going I was distracted by yet another wild goose chase. Telstra (the phone company in Australia) sent us a "wireless modem" to try and we purchased an antenna which is meant to boost the signal enough to make it work. It did, after a fashion, briefly. Perhaps once we get a cable long enough to attach the antenna to the roof we will have better results. Oh well, did, eventually, give it up and return to uni work, and it seems to have worked just enough to post. (I hope--I'll see what happens when I push the button...)
