managed to follow through
Jan. 1st, 2009 02:41 amAs promised yesterday, I didn't open e-mail or any other internet distraction until I'd done more than five hours of uni work. Granted, since I wound up staying up till 04:00 last night, and slept in, that goal wasn't achieved till after midnight, but I did it. Tomorrow, same rule. Five hundred words, or five hours of work before e-mail, livejournal, etc. Even if that pushes it onto the next day.
I do *not* like this rule, by the way, but, it does seem to help me work. Alas, there are plenty of other distractions, like picking raspberries, cleaning the kitchen, going for a walk, updating the spreadsheets in which I track the time I spend doing things and how much I'm eating to calculate the averages for a new month, and a new year. I did resist going out for New Year's Eve. Had one chance at a ride to a party hosted by someone with the folk federation, but decided that work was more important. Good thing too, if I'd have gone I'd not be on-line yet...
