Since returning from Kiruna a week ago I have had energy to accomplish some stuff, but not everything, and I have needed daily naps, and bern super sleepy again by bedtime. No idea if it is just because I did the long drive to Lofoten myself, worked 55 hours of stone carving and chatting with visitors to the museum before doing the long drive to Kiruna myself (combined with worries of if the car would kerp working enough to get there), then working full time on the dig for a week and a half, with a four hour each way road trip in the weekend and many hours of berry picking, followed by the long drive home afterwards, or if, perhaps I might also have been fighting off some sort of virus that my body recognised enough to deal with without getting any other symptoms than low energy. (Though, when put like that, really, the last few of weeks really are enough to account for needing a week to recover, without any viruses necessarily involved.)

But either way, yesterday was a productive day. My second thesis supervisor finally sent their comments on my paper. The one I had written the first draft of February two years ago, but both supervisors were too busy then to read it, and we realised that My funding was going to expire, so I put the paper asside to focus on finishing the thesis before I was out of funding. Yah, that paper. The one that I picked back up this year after submitting the thesis at the end of December. I cleaned it up, clarified things, and realised that with figure captions and references it was more than 9000 words, when the journal has an 8000 word limit. That paper. The one where I thought that the easiest fix would be to take away one of the two categories of accessory minerals investigated, so ai did, and it fixed the word count issue so I sent it to my supervisors saying "fixed the word count by deleting..., shall I submit it now?", and got a paniced instant reply from my main supervisor saying "no! Put that bit back!" Saying the other supervisor has ideas on other ways to fix it". That was February. Since then I have poked my other supervisor every couple of months. Yesterday morning I finally got the comments!

Yesterday mid morning, as I was working on the paper, my dentist office called to cancel my afternoon appointment, as the dentist was sick. So I didn't have to stop work on the paper at 13:00, but could kerp going (I mean not counting taking an hour break because I was pissed off at Word for refusing to show me all the comments in the edited paper at once, but requiring that I click on each one). After that break I just pulled the paper back into Scrivener, which is a much better place to do a restructure and moving bits from the methods section to an appendix, and happily worked there. I didn't return to Word till I was completely done and just needed to get iit into a .doc format (not .docx, the journal wants .doc if possible).

Then I sent them both a quick note, and a copy of the file to say that the paper itself is done, and if they are ok with it, today I will check that the stuff that is now appendix can stand on its own and submit.  Supervisor #2 replied promptly, saying looks great, do it, but perhaps give #1  chance to also take a look first.

Today I woke up with so much energy that while doing ourmorning phone call I managed to unpack and put away a number of things that have bern sitting in the entry are all week, plus i stripped the bed and started a load of laundry. Speaking of which, time to get thecfirst load out of the washer and resume work on the paper...
