Undoing other people's mistakes

I have now finished undoing the problems caused by my colleague choosing to box up documents to be archived, putting them on archive shelves, without entering them into the database during his last few weeks on the job. I had been working on a different series from the same organisation, so had delayed giving mine volume numbers till after his last day, at which point I checked the database, saw the final volume number he had used, and started mine with the next number. Then I took the boxes to the archive to put them on the shelves, to discover he'd labled and shelved another 45 boxes after he quit doing the data entry! That was the day before heading to my summer job in Norway.
When I got back another colleague gave me the hand-scribbled notes he'd made about what was in those last 45 boxes. It took me four days to go through those boxes, which he'd left half empty, so the papers inside were sagging, re-pack them so that all the boxes were full (at which point there were only 26 boxes), do the data entry, and get them back on the shelves (I am not going to look in the boxes he'd done when he was still doing the data entry!)
Today I have re-numbered and re-labeled all of the boxes I had numbered before I discovered he hadn't done the rather important data entry, and am ready to resume work as normal.
