Spelmansstämman in Gammelstad

I love the fact that my brain reacted to Spelmansstämman by feeling like no time has elapsed since the last one, even though we had three years without it, since the pandemic didn't start till most of the year between them had already elapsed. Yes, I have really missed the chance to dance all night while tallented Swedish folk muscians play beautiful music, but swirling around on that dance floor gave the feeling like this *is* the normal. I love it!

Our dance performance went reasonably well, especially given how many training sessions I missed by bein out of town, and how many the others missed for one reason or another (luckily, we took turns who couldn't make it). Keldor recorded the performance for me, so it will be interesting to see it later.

The event continues today, but having danced non-stop between 18:30 and 22:30 last night and then flipping hamburgers for a two hour shift, today I am content to just drive home and see f I can manage to make myself a new phone baldric before I need to drive north for work on Wednesday morning.

Phone baldrick?

I assume you don't mean 1-800 CUNNING-PLAN...

Nope!

This is a baldric that goes from my right shoulder to my left hip. It has a pocket by my shoulder for the little Bluetooth think that links my telephone to my hearingaids, a breat lelel pocket for my telephone, which is in a case that has a shoestring sewn to the case hinge, and a hook on the other end of the lace that attaches to a loop by the phone pocket. Down at the hip there is a pocket for my keys (also attached via lanyard and hook to a loop vy the pocket) and chargers and box of spare hearing aid batteries.

I made the first one years ago, when I got my first Bluetooth phone/hearing aids adapter thingie. That one could be up to ten meters from my phone, but needed to be quite close to the hearing aids. Putting it into a skirt pocket was much too far. It came with a loop antenna that let one wear it as a necklace, but I don't like wearing necklaces, and if I did, I would want something prettier that that plastic box of electronics.

Since I needed it close to my ears I decided to try a baldric, inspired by the many baldrics I have seen in the SCA over the years, and, while I was at it, adding the extra pockets for phone and keys just made sense.

Since I wear it daily I have had to make a new one every other year or so as they wear out, and each one is a little better than the one before.

So not as fun as your suggestion, but terribly practical.
