Unexpectedly enjoying podcasts

Yesterday morning I was a bit grumpy to arrive at the Lövånger Health Center for my appointment for a pap smear to discover that the person who was meant to do it was home sick for the day. If I had known the night before we could have attended the folk dance session in Skellefteå, then slept at Keldor's dad's house un Skelleftehamn, and I could have done the drive north early on Wednesday (or taken the bus). If I had been told that morning I could have still started driving early. But since my appointment was for 08:50 and it took time for them to check and confirm that there was no one to see me, so I didn't start driving till 09:00.
Luckily, the roads were good, and I made it to work only 2 hrs 24 minutes later. However, L needed me to run an errand after work, so I didn't manage to work a full day in Wednesday.
Today, in contrast, I managed to work 12 hours, and then went to our folk dance session, and have enjoyed the full day.
Years ago I read and loved the transcriptions of
hrj's Hoywverch and Hyddwen over on PodCastle, but being a visual person never bothered to listen to them. The last week my job at the archives has been tedious with many hundreds of rusty paperclips to remove from the documents in addition to entering them into the database. Yesterday I remembered those stories and went to listen to them and found that I enjoyed listening to them as much as reading.
Today it occured to me that if PodCastle published two stories I love by an author I adore, there may be more stories I would love there. So I scrolled back to their first episode and managed to listen to the first five todat, and enjoyed them all. It will be interesting to see how many I get through before this work contract finishes.
Having grown up with a hearing problem, I never thought thought I would enjoy listening to stories, but piping them directly into my hearing aids plus a job with lots of brain power to spare has me really enjoying them.
