I relaxed in the recovery room from when I woke around 11:30,  visiting with Josie, and Julia,  who works at the hospital and came over on a break. A bit after 12:00 I was sleepy again, so Julia went back to work and I napped till 13:00. Then I woke up and the surgeon checked in on me and I was good to go home. They gave me a little packet of morphine to take with me (I may have one every twelve hours if I want) and told me that I can also take Alvadon. I  replied that we have no Alvadon in the house, only Ipren, and  they said that I may not take Ipren, but  that Alvadon is ok. So we stopped by the pharmacy on the way out of the building and bought some Alvadon.

That was at 14:00, and, even though I didn't hurt, I chose to take one straight away, as I have heard that pain meds work best before the pain is a problem. (But I almost never have pain, so what do I know?) Then I went home and took a nap, waking around 16:00 feeling hungry. So I got up and ate a little yoghurt, muesli, and fruitsalad while Josie cooked some veg. That took just long enough that I was able to eat the veg too. We talked for a while after eating,  and at 19:00 I took one of the morphine tablets and went to bed. I  wasn't hurting at all, but I was uncomfortable where the drainage tubes were, and was afraid it would start hurting.

Before I fell asleep David arrived and came in to cuddle me a bit before taking the tractor to clear the driveway of the day's rather wet and heavy snow. About 21:00 I woke to go pee, just as David came in from clearing the driveway, so he tucked me back in. Those drainage bags made it hard to arrange the blankets myself.

At 03:00 I woke feeling much better, and hungry, so I got up and got some muesli, yoghurt, and fruitsalad  (thankful that Josie had lifted down a bowl to the counter and set out the jar of muesli before bed so that I could manage on my own). Since I was feeling better I decided to go to the computer and update my logs. I decided that it was probably not a good idea to sit on my normal huge ball,  so I pressed the button to bring the desk up to a good height. Perhaps 20 or 30 minutes later I was done eating and my logs were up to date, so I opened email to see if there was anything import. I saw that I had a message from 1177 (the Swedish medical service), but,  before I could log in to see it, I suddenly felt faint, and collapsed onto the floor, landing on my back on the carpet (which is over foam). I didn't lose consisness, but I did lay there for a bit before going back to bed and sleeping till a bit after 07:00.

Then I checked messages from my phone without getting out of bed, and found out that my appointment to get the tubes out was not at 11:40 as per the post it note they had given us yesterday, but at 11:20. Good thing I looked.

I got up at 07:30 and had breakfast and then talked with Josie for a bit. Then I relaxed on the couch while she got ready to go, and  we set out over the slushy roads (it having abruptly warmed to above zero) to the hospital.

We were there an hour early, so we picked up some baby wipes from the pharmacy and had fika with Julia. Then we went up to my appointment and the tubes came out.

The first one hurt a lot, but the second was only a little painfull, so I am glad she took them in that order. However, as soon as my body realized they were gone I felt much better.

We went back to the house and I thawed some soup for lunch and relaxed on the recliner while she loaded the car. Then I took a nap while she cooked some veg for her lunch (and put some asside for me later).

We picked up Louise at 15:00 and I am curled up in a nest in the back seat of the car getting close to the event, where I will ask people to fetch and carry for me so that I don’t over do anything.

It sounds like a good recovery so far. I wish you little to no pain.
