kahnegabs posted these questions, and since I have found that it can be quite difficult recognizing people I know when they've chosen names other than their SCA names, I thought I'd play along. If you are willing to share, please let me know your answers!

1. My username is ______ because ______.

2. My SCA name is _____ because ______.

5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

My answers:

1) my user name is Kareina, because that is my SCA name.

2) my SCA name is Kareina because I was only 16 when I picked it, and I wanted a SCA name that was *unique*, and contained some of my favourite letters (like "k" and "r" and "n"). (The college of heralds passed it as "Made up Russian", I don't know that one can do that these days.)

3) My journal doesn't have a title that I am aware of. While I had noticed that some people's journals do, at no time have I thought that mine should.

4) I am guessing from the way the question is phrased that it is possible to change the default of "friends page", but it never would have occurred to me to try.

5) My default userpic is the single-strand silk split-stitch embroidery of my coat of arms that I did for the Lochac Worshipful Company of Broiders Guild Banner because, having turned it in, I am unlikely to ever see it again, and so I put a photo of it somewhere I would see it now and again. Besides, one's coat of arms is a representation of one's self.

Okay, I'll bite.

1. My Username is Thisfox because I'm often known to the Anime crowd as "Red Fox" and as Redfox is always taken, Thisfox became a version of that.
"Which fox? Not that Fox, ThisFox!"

2. My SCA name is Lyssa because it was a name I liked when a friend was reciting from a list of possible "viking" names a few days after I'd joined the SCA in early 1998. Not only was it a pretty name, it was like "Lisa" and it's nice to have a common name as my mundane name is so unusual. My SCA last name is Trygvrsdöttir as one of my best friends in my first year of the SCA is Tryvgssonn and I wanted to be his sister.... it sort of turned out from there. Lyssa is also the name of the Cunning Little Vixen from the Russian folk tale.
Lyssa Trygvrsdöttir is a Jute, by the way. From around 600AD.

3. My journal is "digital diary" as I already carry an analog diary in my bag at all times. It usually lasts about a year, and there are many filled ones on the shelf of my library at home. The reason I run the digital version is so that people in other countries and states can keep track of where I'm at, and so that they can plan for when I'm heading to their location. It's a keep-in-touch thing. These days it's also a functioning diary.

4. Non-Analog friends? See above, really.

5. My default Userpic is a picture of Millie Thompson from Trigun. She is very much like me: a secondary character (not the main character of this world), very tall, unexpectedly strong. She values many of the things I value, and I have always felt a sort of affinity with her, ever since I first saw Trigun. I have been known to cosplay her, and one day intend to get a Thompson Stungun as is found in Trigun.

Another default character I have in my Userpics is Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing. I never much liked Gundams, but as with all female watchers of anime I've met, G.W. changed that for many people. He has a plait like mine, and has a happy-go-lucky attitude I try to emulate occasionally.

lol, I've always been an e-mail addict, and one of those who's normal habit was to reply to e-mail promptly after reading it, so there is no surprise that I'm using this regularly. Besides, on a day like today, when I'm having troubles focusing on what I'm meant to be reading, I look often to see if anyone has said anything more interesting...

And yes, it did answer the questions! Of course, in your case, I actually knew the answers to #1 and 2, but then you are one of my few friends on LJ who is local, and therefore I've seen you in person since I found out this service existed...

My name is katerit because kateri was taken and my confirmation name is Kateri Tekakwitha. I also seem to use variations of the name when I write.

My SCA name is Branwen because I was made Welsh (long story) in college by other students in front of Jade (who was king) but I actually am an Anglo-Saxon - thus the Cryccthegn Deorcwuda - the crutchthane of Darkwood. I like the irony of a crutchthane - and I like the inclusion of the thorn.

Does my journal have a titile?

I do friends only because I'm a teacher and don't want students to read it, but I suppose I should let more friends know of the page. I don't know if they'd want to read it.

I need to get a userpic. Hmmm...

Where did Kateri Tekakwitha come from? It is pretty, but not a name format with which I am familiar. What language is is?

Kateri Tekakwitha was Native American - Mohawk and Algonquin. The name is Mohawk.
