Today has been a very pleasant mix of activities. I managed to get up at 08:00 because it was such a pretty day I thought I'd get the sheets washed. And, indeed, it stayed pretty, so I managed to get three loads of washing done and dry on the cloths-line (well, save for the towels, I love soft, fluffy towels, so even on pretty days they go into the dryer. The only way I'll line-dry towels is if the day is so windy they come off the line as soft as if they'd been in the dryer, which happens, but not often). Other "useful" tasks included getting the loo cleaned and my favourite socks darned *before* wearing all the way through the heels.

I managed a reasonable amount of exercise today. [livejournal.com profile] clovis_t and I decided to try jogging instead of walking for our 30 minutes of exercise, and we actually managed to run for more than half of it. If I'd had had the sense to switch to a sports-bra first, I might have managed more, but my shoulders get sore holding my arms against my chest to keep things stable. It is amazing how easy it is to forget such details when it has been many months since the last run. In addition, [livejournal.com profile] baronsnorri took the steep path to the waterfall, so I'm feeling pretty good about they day's fitness progress.

On the thesis front I've managed to complete *and write up the results* of the calculations I was doing. As a result I was able to delete the long-winded description of what didn't work last time I tried this. Then I went through and made all of the sub headings for this chapter consistent, and between the various edits, the thesis is now 1,875 words shorter than it was yesterday. It is kind of weird to make what is, technically, negative progress, and be pleased about it, but there you go. Quality is ever so much more important than quantity!

Tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] clovis_t and I will go visit his parents, and bring his dad that birthday pound cake I baked a couple of days ago (on the actual birthday, but the weekend is close enough, and they understood about his needing to get his thesis done and turned in on Friday).

Re: line drying laundry...I'm wondering if it would work to line dry the towels, then "fluff" them in the dryer. Haven't ever tried it myself, as I don't care if my towels are fluffy, (in fact they can't be fluffy since they are waffle-weave and not towelling) but it might be a way to use less dryeer time?

It works. A good windy day works well too, and you still gat that fine sunny outdoor fragrance to them.

When I feel like using less dryer time I sometimes put them in the dryer first for a bit, to pre-soften them whilst I hang out the other items, then put them on the line, and then back in the dryer to finish. But it takes much less effort on my part to just put them in the dryer for long enough to finish them and focus on my uni work instead of transferring things.

I am laughing again, because we are so delightfully opposite. This weekend I used my drier for the laundry for the first time since last April!
