I have been posting occasional blog entries on MySpace. Thus far my LiveJournal account has only been used to read what my friends here have been up to (and I suspect that there are far more people I care about with LJ accounts than I know about--I find new ones fairly often commenting on my friend's pages--if you happen to know of other people I care about who aren't on my friend's list, do please let me know their user name here!).

It occurred to me today that it wouldn't take much extra time to post duplicate entries both here and on MySpace (I tend to do the composition in a word-processor anyway--pasting twice instead of once would be easy enough.)

Do any of my friends think I should bother? Would you want to be able to hear what I've been up to here? (I know at least one of you reads what I put on MySpace, but perhaps you'd find it more convenient for you if I used this format?)

I prefer to stay away from MySpace. The ads are intrusive and most of the pages are wider than a screen width (I guess they aren't proportional, because it's just as bad on my big monitor as on my laptop.) and they tend to be busy and noisy.

LJ is perfect for me. People are easier to find and it's nice and calm here. Kind of like the difference between a sports bar and a coffeehouse. LJ being the coffeehouse. Do come join us on a permanent basis!

My personal experience has seen that this group is a little more responsive and participatory than most of the folks I find on Myspace. I used to post in both places, but I stopped after a while. Maybe some people have a harder time getting onto Myspace through their company firewalls. I keep a place on Myspace so people can find me, but I do most of my writing here.

Ok, starting from today, I'll post both places. Alas, LJ doesn't seem to have the "currently reading" option, so if you want to see what I'm reading, you will have to go over to MySpace for that (If I'm wrong and it does, please let me know where/how to find it!).

I also don't see an option here to post entries and give them a different date/time than that which they are posted. Therefore I won't move over the older postings I've got on MySpace, anyone curious to see what I've been up to between the time I was introduced to that web page, and when I found this one, can go over there an look...
