So much progress, so far to go

This evening we drove down to Skellefteå for a folk music gathering.
lord_kjar and the rest of our Nyckelharpa group will be performing later. Just now we are sitting in the motor home of some friends and the are playing Nyckelharpa. Before they started playing we were conversing in Swedish, and I had no problems participating in the conversation and following what they were saying.
However, my accent is still strong enough that this morning, whilst at the place car inspections are done, waiting for the trailer to be tested I asked the man working there "Var är toaletten?" he replied "Out the door to the left and in the other door". Sigh. Three words out of my mouth and they known I am an English speaker. I know that he hadn't heard us talking in English earlier, as I was absorbed in my sewing project when we arrived and hadn't said anything at all yet.
lord_kjar tells me I should have used the dialect version fins de nå dass?", which is easier to pronounce, and would mark me as a local. I will try to remember it...
In other news, we stopped at his parent's new place on the way here to say hello, and they have been making progress moving in, in between visits south to see grandkids. It is really starting to look like a home. I loved their last house, but this farm is even nicer.
