I continue to love my job, and the part about working half time

Today I had a meeting with colleagues to discuss progress with the lab so far and plans between now and things starting back up again after summer, and we are all on the same page. My goal between now and autumn is to test some of the various "data reduction" options for transforming the "counts per second" that the ICP-MS generates into actual concentrations of that element in that spot on the sample. This is likely to take all of the available working hours I have between now and then, given that I only have 20 hours in a week to start with, and some weeks I will have off for summer holidays and earth cellar building.

Then, just as I was wrapping up typing up my notes from the meeting I got a call from lord_kjar, who said that one of his acquaintances from work was about to be performing with a band in a park in the city center, and did I want to come along?

So we spent his lunch break in town (along with C, who heads back to Göteborg tomorrow evening) enjoying the music. Then we dropped her at the house, took his company car back to the company he was working at this afternoon, I crossed the street to my own office and installed a program needed for that above mentioned data reduction before biking home.

I have enjoyed a lovely afternoon of reading and napping, and not needing to be responsible for anything. Now to decide if I want to try to accomplish anything before he gets home and we enjoy her last night in town before she hops on that train sourh.
