By hand and by foot
Aug. 28th, 2013 09:47 pmSince we have had the last few weeks off of work (not counting that conference I went to in Uppsala) life has fallen into a very pleasant pattern involving both the outdoor projects in progress (earth cellar & walkway) and inside projects. Most of the inside projects have been preparing for the upcomming Lajv (which is proncounced more or less "live" and is the Swedish nickname for live-action role playing game). Neither
lord_kjar nor I have ever tried attending one of these before, and we need new costumes for it, since the world in which the game is set is fantasy, and our SCA stuff isn't really the right look. However, since it isn't SCA I don't feel the same compulsion to sew everything by hand like I do for for SCA events. Therefore I have taken this as an oppertunity to learn to use the treaddle sewing machine he has, and in the past couple of weeks I have used my feet to sew a wool tunic like thing, a linnen one, a little linnen top/bra thing, and a bunch of silk hair ribbons to braid into our hair. It has been fun to see how quickly projects go when using foot-powered technology.
