statues and parrots
Jul. 9th, 2011 02:02 pmToday's adventure involved heading to the William Ricketts Sanctuary, a lovely park in the hills in the Dandenong Mountains to the east of Melbourne full of ferns, lovely green trees, and lots and lots of nice statues that the sculpture made during the last 60 years of his life, all of which are made to blend in with the rocks and forest.
After touring that park we went across the street to a nice cafe and had Devonshire Tea. I had had a big breakfast, so I gave one of my scones to my nephew, who, fortunately, didn't want cream on his, because the amount of cream they served was, in my opinion, the exact correct amount for the one scone I did eat. Much to my surprise both mom and my brother in law failed to use all of their cream on their two scones each. Silly people. (My stepsister and other nephew had gone on some sort of other secret mission, so there were just the four of us on this adventure.) The highlight of the tea was enjoying watching the really pretty red and blue parrots frolicking outside of the window. (Mom had a camera, but didn't bother to try to take a photo, she knows from experience that these birds do not hold still long enough to get a decent photo. But if any of her photos of the park came out I will link to them when she puts them onto FB.)
I got hit by a nap attack on the way home, and snoozed while the others went into the library to return last week's books and pick up some new ones. Not much point in my checking out a book when I fly in the morning...
