Stone Age gathering sounds so cool

I just got a FB invite to a Stone Age gathering. I didn't know there were such things, and it sounds so totally cool! Just like an SCA event requires an attempt at a Medieval Costume, this web page says that:

"Stone Age clothing" and Stone Age tool gear are basic conditions for participation.

They go on to say

Particpants build their own hut or shelter on the spot and settle together in an authentic natural environment.

This sounds so cool! It even falls at a time when it might be possible to attend, if I am on the correct continent by then, since archinonlive is on holiday then, and it doesn't conflict with the Medieval stuff he has on the calender. I wonder if he would be interested? I wonder if I will be back from Australia yet? Sigh. It is hard to make plans when one does not know upon which continent one will be on a given date...

You'd definitely want warm weather for an event like that! Sounds fun though :)

I am not certain I agree that warm weather is a requirement, given the fact that we are talking a time when more fur than fiber is available for clothing, and furs are warm! But then I have always been of the school of thought that cold weather is far easier to deal with than hot--one can do something about the cold & add more layers, heat is miserable no matter how many layers one takes off...

I thought those same thoughts *after* I posted, naturally :)

I used to hate the heat but after driving around Australia in the various seasons, it's definitely humidity I dislike so much. If you're near a large body of cool water then heat isn't so bad really.

If such an outfit ever makes it high enough up on the to-do list to be done, I will post a pic...
