next Textile Forum to be in the UK

For those of you who have expressed envy that I've been able to attend the last two European Textile Forums: They have just announced that the next one will be in the UK in September. Details to be released later, but this might be enough notice for some of you to make arrangements to get there then.

I don't yet know upon which continent I will be living by then, nor what I will be doing for an income, but if it is at all possible I will be there. The last two were both amazing--fun, educational, inspiring, full of living history and serious science research, many hands-on lessons and deep in-theory discussions. Totally worth the fact that as a conference it actually charges like a conference (actually, for a conference it is very reasonably priced, it is only expensive by standards of an SCA event).

You were one of the people I had in mind when I mentioned it.

Any progress on plans to do a Europe trip in the near future? I'll be based in Sweden at least for January, and don't really have plans beyond that, but am just playing things by ear...

Not really. I thought I'd have more free time once I "retired" from being Baroness, but I am autocrat of a local event in January, provost of a Bardic event in the early Spring, autocrat of a major event in the summer, provost/autocrat of another in the fall, and my job has been insane. :P The tentative plan is to get across the pond sometime in the autumn, but I might be able to swing something in the spring, pending the work schedule. It's tricky, since there are things at my job that happen between March and August that only I do and have massive, federal repercussions if they are not done right, and the schedule is never published terribly far in advance, making planning during prime travel months difficult at best.

sounds complicated! And, of course, I have no idea where I'll be after say, January. I can plan that far ahead (and have), but not yet further...

lol! I've not volunteered for anything that includes a long-term time commitment in years, due to my accepting short-term jobs and not knowing how long I'll be in any given kingdom. I'm actually liking the thought of finding somewhere to live for 3+ years so that I can volunteer again.
