Academa della Danza--Revel in a Castle
Jul. 13th, 2010 02:46 amI had a fantastic time this weekend. The Acadame Della Danza—Revel in a Castle was ever so much fun, despite the heat.
Some highlights:
Meeting another kindred spirit who hand-sews his clothing.
Dancing. More dancing. And yet more dancing
Singing period songs with people.
Hanging out and visiting with people.
Retreating to the cellar, which was nice and cold, to recover from the heat.
Attending court in a 12th Century chapel.
Good company for the flight there and the 4 hour drive between the airport and the site.
Seeing old friends, and making new ones.
Now that I’m home we managed to upload my next experiment today. Alas, this evening the university had a power failure, so now I need to wait till morning and re-start the experiment. When the power failed the internet quit working, so I went home and defrosted my freezer. When I finally finished, at midnight, I returned to uni to discover that the internet still isn’t working via cable, but I was able to find a very bad wireless connection and so obtained random bits of internet access.
Note to self: six months is much too long to go between freezer defrosts. It should not take 4.5 hours to go from unplugging the fridge to all the ice out of the freezer. The freezer is actually larger than I’ve been thinking it is—that was a lot of ice! (completely filled the veg drawer) I must remember to pull out the drip-tray under the freezer every couple of days, so that it never freezes in place—it would have been an easier job chipping ice out if that hadn’t been stuck in place.
I wish I had better access tonight though, since the above mentioned kindred spirit sent me links to photos from the weekend on his flicker account, and I really want to put one of the nice ones of me as my facebook profile photo. But the connection isn’t good enough for that, so I will have to be patient. So instead I’ll go do yoga and get some sleep and hope the internet works in the morning.
