December Birthdays

kareinaSince I have a December birthday myself, I've always thought it the best time of the year to be born. My SCA name includes the Finnish words for "Winter" and "Daughter", because of my fondness for the season. Growing up I considered the period of time from Thanksgiving to New Years to be the best time of all, since it was a series of celebrations, good food, and good company. I understand that not everyone shares my joy in the holidays, and that some even find the season to be stressful, but I have always loved it. I didn't do anything for Thanksgiving this year, since I had to work, but since then I've managed a few celebratory adventures, and am looking forward to many more in the coming weeks.

tafelspitz and to gurdymonkey, for both of you the day has already passed, whilst I was enjoying the music/dance event in Stockholm, and to tammypierce, whom I've never met, but whose books I enjoy, and the fact that her birthday is only three days after mine makes her special, the_cheese_lady, who, as her name suggests, makes the most yummy cheeses, is only a couple of days later, then amycat1959, whom I've not seen in years but still think fondly of, followed a few days later by cathyblancett, and then my beloved mother, darttn, who had the good sense to schedule her birthday for just as the AGU conference is ending, so that I could come give her birthday hugs in person, and to zenfury, who share's mom's birthday, fjorlief, a couple of days later, and then beckenham and callistotoni the following day.
I hope that you all have (or have had) delightful birthdays, with some time dedicated to making it a special day for you, and that this turning of your personal year marks the start of a truly fablous year in your life. If I've missed any other December birthdays in the LJ community, my apologies, and warm birthday wishes as well to my non-LJ friends who share this month with this delightful group of people.
