an odd sort of day

I didn't sleep as well as is usual for me last night, and woke up later than planned, with lower energy than I'd have liked to have had available. Started the day with a trip down the hill, since I still needed to post my "official" absentee ballot (I tried posting it on Friday but reached the Uni post office at 16:02, and they close at 16:00). I'd voted weeks ago on the "special advance ballot" they send out. In the advance one it is needful to hand-write in the names of the person for whom you wish to vote, and on the official one the names are pre-typed and we simply fill in the oval. Apparently the state of Alaska sends out the advance ballot early so that we can be certain out vote counts--if the official one doesn't get back to them on time they count the advance ballot, if it does they count the official one. This way we are covered, even if we live somewhere with an unreliable post office.
Since I was down the hill anyway I also took the time to crush some of the schist I'd brought home from the field trip I took in Australia's Northern Territory last year. Why crush it? to get the garnets out, of course. There is now a small jar of garnets available for my tall apprentice to use in his jewellery projects, should he so desire. That is why I brought them home in the first place, but it took until now to get around to separating them from their matrix.
Procrastination continued with a trip to the grocery store and home to lunch followed by a walk. It was, I am sad to admit, after 16:00 before I did any uni work today, and then I didn't have time to accomplish much before it was time to head back down the hill for Dance Practice, which was much fun! Once again we had a great turn out, with fully 16 people present, and eight different dances dances, most several times over (they asked to *practice* the dances, so that they could actually *learn* them).
Fortunately, dancing, as it so often does, revitalized me, and I was able to accomplish another couple hours of uni work this evening, late though it was when I got home. Now, if I can just keep this energy going tomorrow, 'cause it is so time for yoga and sleep tonight!
