Since a number of people I know have made the move to dreamwidth I've created an account there (same name). I have no idea yet if/how much I will use it, I'm perfectly comfortable here at the moment. Alas, I don't recall who all is over there. If you are please let me know so that I may add you there...

Same here -- i.e., same account name, mostly created for possible future reference.

I'm not on dreamwidth, but I do have a "mirror blog" on Blogger. I actually use both sites for slightly different things, as their interface is slightly different. From LJ it is easier, when writing a post, to insert links that will open up on a new page, from Blogger, I can change where and how the pictures are in my post. SO when writing up a new post, I actually switch back and forth, with copy-and-paste until it looks the way I want!

I like that LJ has the option to choose and create special groups of friends, whereas Blogger is simply "public". On the other hand, all my Blogger posts are tagged, which makes searching for information Much Easier. Some of my posts only ever get published on LJ as they are not for general public consumption. I figure that if something should happen to one of the sites, I would be less likely to lose all my years of writing.

My other Blog is "Acorn Cottage Artisanry" http://artisanry.blogspot.com/

I also have a blogger account, but I use that one for geology blogs, so rarely repost those from here, and even more rarely repeat something from here over there. Mine is at The Musings of a Life-Long Scholar. However, all of my posts here are tagged, making it easy to find things...

I didn't learn about what the tag function was for until I started using Blogger, and the idea of going back and tagging yearsworth of posts seems tiresome to say the least....

It sounds like the sort of project that would suit a time when you had nothing else urgent to be doing, and felt contemplative enough to want to go back to the beginning, read through them all to see where you were compared to where you are now, and add tags in the process. But would take ages to do. I know this because I did start using tags from the beginning, but initially used "food" for any mention of food at all, and only later decided to use "recipe" if I provided one or described how I made something. Then one of my friends asked for my recipie for something, and I *knew* I'd posted it to LJ. It took ages to find it, because it was only tagged with "food", so I went through all "food" posts, adding the tag "recipie" to those which warranted it...
