have been busy. I keep working till we are sleepy, then stopping for yoga without posting. Alas, the work is all stuff that needs to be done in order to later have something to write about, so I can't claim any significant progress, nothing that shows yet, anyway. Fewer hours of work accomplished today--had to do a "tip run" in the morning (we don't have garbage collection here at the house, we we have to take our "rubbish" to the "tip" ourselves, where they charge us very random fees for the privilege--today it was $6 for more stuff than last time, when they wanted $9). This evening was Dance Practice. It was a very, very fun practice, with lots of people, a number of whom had never danced before, followed by a couple hours of just hanging out with some folks afterwards. Came home bouncy and happy, and, hopefully, inspired to really work lots on my thesis. However, it is nearly 1am, so now I need to decide: work more tonight, or get some rest and approach it fresh in the morning?

The day after tomorrow our D&D group will be here, and I'd thought of baking a cake. However one of the players can't eat wheat/gluten. I know that many torte recipes are naturally flourless, but I've not actually made any. If anyone has a particularly favourite cake they've made more than once that doesn't contain wheat or gluten, and is willing to share the recipe today (since I'm heading into town tomorrow, so would have to buy ingredients then), I'd be grateful. Yes, I have googled it, and have a few ideas as backups, but making something that someone I trust says is good would be better than trusting a random stranger...

We didn't get to sleep till about 02:00 last night. Somehow I woke up at 5:15, so I went for a jog around the block. What a beautiful start to the day! The full moon had set behind the cliff (which towers over our back yard), but going "around the block" means going around the cliff, so I had the pleasure of seeing it looming large over the next row of hills before my route took me close enough to them to have it set again. I half expected to be able to stay up for a while thereafter and get some work done, so settled down at the computer with breakfast and looked at the morning mail. However, the heat we'd suffered from oh so recently is well and truly past, and the room was cold, so by the time I'd finished my museli and reading I was *cold* (sitting still in a cold room straight away after exercise will do that to a body). So I had a hot shower and went back to bed at 07:30, and was still deeply asleep when [livejournal.com profile] clovis_t's dad woke us to ask if he could run an errand for him. Tried getting up and being useful then, but didn't manage much more than reading more mail/livejournal/facebook/blogs before deciding that I really did need more sleep, and managed another hour before his dad came in to ask his help with something else in the winery, so I go up again. Managed to read my 1000 words a day (well, actually, a fair bit more than that--read an entire article my advisor had given me as useful back ground reading for the "big picture" part of my thesis, and did a bit of playing with creating some graphs in a spreadsheet. Alas, the day is pretty much gone, and that is all the more progress I can report. I need to head to uni to meet with my advisor at 09:00 tomorrow, so I will shut the computer down now (only 22:00) and do yoga and head to bed, and hope that my energy/motivation is much better tomorrow. Meeting with my advisor usually inspires me, and, after today (especially), I need the inspiration!
