Here are another couple of sets of questions people have given me. If anyone else is inclined to ask me questions, go for it. If anyone else wants questions from me, let me know...

1. What is the one thing that you would most like to accomplish during your life?
Oh, dear, I’ve just realized I need to come up with a new one—since the PhD will be awarded next month. Hmmm…. Does “enjoy life” count?
2. When do you first remember loving your mom?
It doesn’t count as my own memory, but my mom tells me that when we were in Japan (so I would have been 3 ½ or younger) I told her one day that even though she was quite different from my “other mother”, that I really liked her. She says she asked me about this “other mother”, but all I would tell her is that she was “different”. Strangely, I no longer remember this “other mother”, but I’m glad that the one I’ve got now was found to be acceptable by the little me.
3. Where were you when you first realized that you loved traveling?
Travelling, as distinct from moving to new locations? I remember enjoying the flight (and the visit once we were there) from Japan to the Philippians when I was 2 ½ years old. I had my very own carry-on bag, and everything (blue, with a white front, and, for reasons I don’t understand, a picture of a baseball on it). Playing with the geckos and the kids at the house where we were staying were highlights of the trip.
4. How spicy do you like food to be, and what did you eat that convinced you of that?
I use a fair few herbs and spices in my cooking, but don’t tend to go for the hot sorts of spices. Sometimes I enjoy things very, very mild and unspiced—think a freshly made soft cheese, yum! Or fresh bread, hot out of the oven, with plenty of butter. But when I’m doing a main dish I tend to like a blend of herbs and spices, the proportions of which change every time I cook.
5. Why do you think so many people who say they believe in a loving god fight with each other?
Perhaps they believe that since they’ve got a deity to do their loving for them, they needn’t bother themselves? Silly really. I’d just as soon do without the deity and just love people.

1. What is your favorite "standard 8 Crayola pens" color (actually nine, because white is also an option)?
Blue. (if we are expanding out to a larger colour range, I tend to go for the darker shades of blue)
2. What is the funniest thing you ever SAW happen on a battlefield at a War?
Oddly enough, I’ve seen very, very few battlefields at a War—normally I spend the day time of a war hiding in the shade visiting with people and waiting for the sun to set, temperatures to drop, and bardics or other social activities to start. However, when I was living in An Tir many years ago I took my armour to a Clinton War, and was invited to join the Queen’s tea party inside of the castle during a battle. We sat in the upper level of the castle and ate ice cream until the battle got close enough to be a threat, then we put our helmets on and stood ready to defend the Queen if the enemy managed to break into the castle. However, my sword was never needed, as our side managed to win before they got into the upper level of the castle. I found it all rather civilized, really.
3. Who was the genesis of your "take" on the SCA; ie way back when, who's guidance affected how you interacted with/observed all the courts, bardics, people...
My SCA mother, Jenyvr of Squalid Mannor, the man who was Seneschal of Eskalya when I joined, Aldwin Longwalker, and Kylson were the ones who did the most to explain to me the details of the SCA and how it all worked. Looking at that list I’m kind of bummed to note that two out of three of them are no more.
4. If you could have ONE superpower which would primarily affect YOU, what would it be?
Teleportation. There are way, way, way too many different places I want to be and so not enough time or money to travel between them with any of the methods currently available to me.
5. If you could have ONE superpower which would only affect OTHERS, and might only affect you indirectly, what would it be?
I’m drawing a blank on this one—I am just not thinking of powers which would affect others that I’d want/would use. There is a small voice which says I *should* ask for the ability to heal others, but then if it were known that I could do that I’d wind up needing to do it all day, every day, given the number of injured/ill people there are out there, and honestly, I’m not terribly inclined to go into that line of work; I don’t even like having to have a current first aid card, which most universities require before sending one into the field…
In other news, I wound up missing fighter practice today. Since we are planning on downloading my third experiment tomorrow I needed to make certain I've got two capsules ready to go for the fourth experiment, and only had one finished as of last night. I tried to get the second one done this morning, but the welding was still being difficult when it was time to depart, so
clovis_t went on without me. I eventually finished the task, did a few other uni tasks, then made some additional progress on unpacking boxes and went for a short run before returning here to do more work that really needs to be done ASAP, or I won't be able to do the poster for that conference I'm attending in December. Now that I've caught up here, I'll get to that...

Date: 2009-11-25 02:10 am (UTC)Yes, I think "enjoy life" counts, but it would be far more meaningful if you added something specific about how you'll be going about that... :p
It took awhile to get to it, but I just posted in reply to your last 5. Nice to hear from you, and I'm glad to read up on you and see that things are going so well! Hopefully, we'll run into each other while you're in town.
Cheers!
Jade
PS: You dodged my last question. ;)
Re: lol
Date: 2009-11-25 08:26 am (UTC)As to your last question, I haven't had much direct experiance with people who say they believe in a loving god, let alone ones who fight with one another, so I had to give it my best guess. While, no doubt, a large number of my friends actually have a religion, only a very few of them could I tell you which religion, if it involves a deity, and if it does, if they consider their deity to be a loving one. Furthermore, not so many of my friends spend time *that I am aware of* fighting one another. As to people who aren't my friends, my awareness of them is kind of minimal. Always has been.
