petrol (gas to you Americians) prices
May. 4th, 2008 05:06 pmSomeone, I don't recall whom, recently asked me what we pay for petrol here in Australia. Our prices have been much higher than what they pay in the US for quite a while, but I gather that they are finally starting to catch up with us over there. I wonder if that means that ours are about to go up again?
Anyway, when I moved down here three years ago, we were paying around $1.10 (Australian dollars) per litre. These days the price is $1.50/litre (more or less, depending on the station and how close to town it is). At today's conversation rate of 0.9366 US dollars per 1 Australian dollar, that means I pay the equivalent of $1.40 US dollars per litre, which is $5.32 (US dollars) per gallon.
