It's absolutely gorgeous! I've been getting around to having my own made after the one I had on loan (and learnt on) was taken back by its owner :( I had it for a couple of years so fair enough really. Was thinking of getting one made by the lady in Canberra who heads up the Hammered Dulcimer Society/Assn? But, how do you find yours and can you give me an idea of how much and what range it has? If you'd rather let me know privately than here that's fine. Much appreciate your feedback.

Mine is huge (17/16), and so has a large range. If you need to know more details I could go get the piece of plastic which lists all of the notes and type them up for you. I love the sound, and think it is wonderful. However, I'm actually going to trade up. When Harry and I first discussed it, the plan was to make the bottom and sides of blackwood. But when he went to start the project the balckwood he had available wasn't large enough, so he went with Myrtle. It is lovely, but if I'm going to have an Australian timber instrument, I want it to be my favourite (and, if it turns out that the sound quality isn't as good, I'm willing to cope--I've got enough of a hearing problem I might not notice anyway, and, until he tries we won't know which does a better sound anyway). So now that he's past his time-commitments up through Easter he's going to do the blackwood one, and I'll give him this one back.

If there's an option to purchase it from you then let me know. You may have a return deal organised with him. What are it's measurements? Hard to tell in the photos. The one I used was quite small but I kept wishing it had a larger range!

Well, he does want one for the band, but if you want, I can ask him what he'd charge for it, since he can always make them one later. I'll look up the measurements when I get home, but it is big. I think one of the directions is a full metre, but I don't recall which one.

That'd be great...thanks! The metre frontage is probably the longest parallel edge I'd assume...
