The weekend's highlight was acroyoga!

Some time back one of Keldor's friends pointed out to him that there is an acroyoga group starting up in Umeå that meets on Sundays at 15:00. This timing is remarkably compatible with the SCA fighting training in Umeå, which starts at 12:00 and generally goes for a couple of hours or so. We had planned to attend both a week ago, since we were picking B up from the airport there at 12:00 anyway, but, as reported in my last post, my hip was in no shape for the acroyoga. But by the end of last week my hip was feeling fine again, so we decided to give it a try. I decided not to bring my armour, as I didn't want to risk any bruises or even muscle overuse that might prevent me from doing acroyoga, so B and I made progress on our sewing while Keldor and two of the Uma folk practiced. They finished in good time for him to grab a quick shower, and we drove over to where the acroyoga was supposed to be. We found a dance class in that room, but one of them said that the week before there was a double booking, and the acroyoga group had moved to another room. We checked the announcement, and saw the "call this number if you can't find us", and did. The guy came out, met us, and led us to the new room, in another building in the group of buildings. After some stretching as a group we started in on the acroyoga--they demonstrated what they knew, and we showed a bit of what we do. The leader of the group, Konrad, is an amazing base! I have always said of my friend Elinor that she is such a stable base that laying on her upraised feet is like laying on the floor. Konrad is even more stable. Working with him I was able to do things that I have previously only managed to make work with Elinor, and it was so much fun! We learned a variety of new things (the step into throne by doing a lunge whilst standing on the bases shins is cool, and it was the most fun I have had in a long time (and given that my life has a base level of fun/enjoyment that is pretty high, this is saying something). I felt bad for B though--he had never tried acroyoga before, and it turns out that even though his base level of fitness and core strength are more than good enough to be an accomplished flier, balancing in the air on someone's feet triggers his "you are in extreme danger" sensors and he didn't enjoy it at all. Even watching some of the things we were doing was too much.
Next Sunday is Reengarda's fortnightly crafts afternoon, and our annual meeting, so we won't make the hour drive to the south for acroyoga, but instead will go half an hour north for the meeting, but we told the acroyoga people will will be back the following week.
During fighter practice Keldor got an arm shot that bruised his elbow, which didn't stop him from doing acroyoga. However, when he woke Monday morning the elbow was swollen and painful, so he took the day off of work, and decided to take today off, too.
My Monday time commitments have become a little shorter. The original Monday schedule for Folk Hogskölan was Swedish, English, Lunch, Literature (in either Swedish or English). However, some of us are taking only two of those (and not the same pair, either), so the class decided to re-arrange the schedule to put English first, then Lunch, then Literature, then Swedish, which means that I don't have to come to school till 12:30. Normally that extra time will used for productive stuff, like housework, job search, projects, or finishing up that paper to be published. Yesterday it was "hang out with Keldor and play Qwirkle".
