kareinaOver on Change.Gov they are asking the people to share their "vision for what America can be, where President-Elect Obama should lead this country. Where should we start together?"
This is what I gave them:

I would like to see a country wherin education is valued, and available to all, regardless of background--kids who raised themselves in the gutter free to study side by side at University with children who's parents provided private education and supplemental tutors.
I would like to see a country wherin good quality health care is available for all, regardless of economic station.
I would like to see a country wherin advertizers spent their millions teaching people how to choose healthy foods, rather than making them want the overly processed, over-salted, over sugared foods which are so pervasive in the stores today.
I would like to see a country wherin everyone valued the diversity of the people present, rather than some of them teaching that it is "wrong" to think or believe differently from what they say.
I would like to see a country which set an example to the people by devising a budget which put the priority on things like education, health, personal safety, and science, rather than on ways to bring war to other countries, and arranged said budget such that income covered all expenses, with some savings set aside as a "disaster fund" to help out when need arises.
I would like to see a country wherin people were proud to pay their taxes, because they knew that the money would be wisely spent on things the community needs, and not squandered through inappropriate spending regulations (e.g. "use it or lose it").
I would like to see a country to which I will be proud to return when I complete my time of studying abroad and finish my degree.

I encourage you all to craft your own vision statements, and share them with the government. Perhaps, if enough of us share our dreams about what the US *could be*, in an ideal world, it will be.
