1) Who was the first peer you ever met in the SCA?
Mistress Sharane de Kondrack greeted me and the rest of the high school kids who arrived for my first SCA event (the wedding of Brendan and Aryana, in May of 1982) and showed us where to get changed. After she left the room one of the other kids, who had previously met her, told the rest of us in a loud whisper "That was Mistress Sharane" I, who, at that point, had only ever heard the term "Mistress" used for women who were involved with, and being supported by, a man married to someone else, and then only by adults who seemed to think that this was a Bad Thing was embarrassed to hear this news (since it implied that she was having that sex stuff that I had been told was so bad and to be avoided at all costs), and thought to myself "She lets herself be called that?!" I am not certain how much longer it was before I learned that the term actually has many other meanings...
2) Who was the first person you ever saw elevated to the peerage?
The first peerage ceremony I remember seeing was the double laurel-pelican ceremony for Mistress Kafyre bint Assad (later called Nerissa Meraude de la Fontain). The "You do not have our leave to depart" bit between the two ceremonies has always stuck in my memory.
3) Which Crowns gave you your first award/AoA?
I got my AA from Kylson and Anne, at their first court as the first Prince and Princess of Oertha, in 1985.
4) Who were the first royals you actually knew?
Kylson and Anne, at whose home I spent many hours singing songs and listening to stories and watching (or mostly not watching while we did 4-handed back rubs) movies in the year between meeting them and Oertha becoming a Principality (and they becoming royals). My first SCA boyfriend, Donnan the Truehearded was Kylson's squire, and it was a great joy to, with him, succeed Kylson and Anne and make them a Viscount and Viscountess, and to, a few months later, give Kylson his much deserved Leaf of Merit.
