Worth the extra hassle

kareinaIt had been more than a year and a half since last I pulled the upstairs shower stall forward and opened up the plastic pipes which drain it to clean out hairballs. Therefore I wasn't so surprised to discover upon retuning from Visby that the shower wasn't draining so well anymore and one stands in a puddle while showering.
During our house meeting on Friday we agreed that the person whose week it is to clean the bathroom would be responsible for noticing if that pipe or the one inder the sink was getting clogged up and in need of cleaning. However, since the whole house is starting the cleaning rotation a bit dirtier than normal due to lots of travel this summer, and since I enjoy doing that sort of extra task, I decided to do it myself, even though it is C.'s week to clean the bathroom.
Therefore I started the job directly after my morning situps. Step one was easy: pull shower forward and lift the end of the plast tube from the drainage hole in the floor. However, once that segment was clean again and I went to remove the other, flexible length of tubbing I found that it was stuck on one end, and attempts to extract the other caused the tube to split. Therefore we went to the store to buy a new length of the flexible tube. Since we were going out we also stopped by the other store to buy that nail gun which will make building the pantry much easier. Alas, when we got that tube home we discovered that it wasn't the same sort of attachment as the old broken one, and so we had to return to the store to buy a couple of plasti
c bits to attach it to the drain and the outlet area. It was bothersome to have to go to the store twice in a row like that, but it was also nice to shower in a cabinet that drains.
