[livejournal.com profile] lord_kjar brought home a boar bristle brush from Göteborg last weekend. I had washed my hair just before picking him up on Sunday, yet on Monday when he brushed my hair the brush quickly became full of grey powdery dust.

Hypothesis: the dust came from either the shampoo or conditioner.

Test: try again the "no shampoo" method of simply brushing my hair clean.

Result after one week: much less dust on the hair that is coming out of the brush.

I have been washing the brush with soap daily so that the old dust wouldn't be put back into the hair next time. However, he commented that doing so also washed out the good hair oil from the brush. So, since the dust is now mostly gone, today I tried only using the comb to remove hair/dust from the brush.

It will be interesting to see how long I do this--last time I tried not shampooing my hair I resumed washing it in part because I didn't feel I had the time to brush it so much, and in part so that it would smell pretty. However, I still haven't found a shampoo I really like in Sweden, so perhaps this is the time I stick with it?

Note: last night the back of my neck was itching and red, as it sometimes is, so after brushing it I had him put coconut oil on it for me, and today it hasn't bothered me at all yet.
