My third experiment has been polished down enough to add the next coat of epoxy. Tomorrow I can do the final polish without fear of having lose powder plucked out in the process. Alas, as I was carrying the tiny beaker in which the epoxy had been mixed back to the lapidary room from the lab I managed to not pick one of my feet up sufficiently to clear one of the two steps, and tripped, shattering the beaker. Fortunately, I wasn't injured, only my pride was wounded.
Looked at the results from yesterday's microprobe session and added to the spread sheet what mineral we expected each analysis to be, and a description of the minerals. Added a new sheet to the spreadsheet recording my experiments listing the dates of each microprobe session, whcih samples were analyzed, and how many analyzes were done. Sometime soon I want to go back and add to that how many good analyzes of each mineral were obtained from each session, but in order to do that I'm going to have to actually do the data processing I've been avoiding.
In other news, I managed to get in a short walk today, baked some coconut bars and mixed up some bread dough in anticipation of
clovis_t's return to Milan this evening. He's just called--his plane has landed, and he's on the bus, so he should be at the Centrale station in just under an hour. It takes 30 minutes to walk there from here, so I need to shut down and go shape that bread dough into a loaf to rise while I walk down to meet him.
