There is a really good natural history/geology museum in Oslo, well worth a look-and they've got a huge 3-D geologic map of the Oslo area on display there--it was fun to look at it after a couple of days of stopping to look at the rare outcrop in the city, and see that the few things I'd figured out on my own were correct. The Oslo pass, which gives one unlimited public transit and entry into most of the museums in the area is well worth getting for a day or two. We got the two-day pass and caught the free museums on the day before and the day after our pass days, so we got to see lots.
If they are getting into the outlying areas the region of Florø (west coast) have lots and lots of really pretty high-pressure metamorphic rocks. The train ride between Bergen and Oslo is stunning. Pretty much everything, really.
