Job interview
Mar. 15th, 2025 12:45 am I had a job interview on 3 March that I am not certainI have made time to blog about. The Archaeology department is looking for a project assistant to help ger geoarchaeological data into the SweDigArch and SEAD databases. I was one of four to interview, and this week I was one of two to get some test tasks similar to what will be needed for the job. I have this week to accomplish them, and then present the results to them in a PowerPoint presentation on Tuesday next week.
The "homework" sounds fairly basic. Task one is to describe how I would integrate the data in a provided spreadsheet with the existing database structure of SEAD. To accomplish this I have not only been learning what that structure is, but also looking closely at the older BUGS database, the programming for which was the PhD project of the guy who will be my boss if I get the job. The later is necessary as the spreadsheet is data on fssil insects.
Task two is to write instructions for researchers in the environmental archaeology lab (MAL) to map their data into the SEAD database.
I have made good progress on these, but there is more to do this weekend.
While I have focused on doi g a good job with my homework, Keldor has spent most of the week with a fever. Friday was the first day this week he went to work. By Thursday morning I felt a little under the weather myself, so I took both Thursday and Friday off, so,in addition to job interview prep I have also been re-readibg the Alpennia books, and I slept a good chunk of Thursday.
