A delightful weekend

When I did the paperwork for my job a few weeks back I logged into their bank to attach my profile with the fact that I would be working for Umeå University. This is the same bank that deals with LTUs paychecks, so I was already in the system, and they already had my bank details showing. Some other jobs I have worked in Sweden were paid after the fact, so that September's pay arrives in October, and payday in Sweden is usually the last Thursday of the month.

Therefore, I was really surprised when I spoke to Keldor on Thursday evening and he said that I had a letter from the Uni. He opened it for me, and it turned out to be a paycheck, or as close to one as we get in Sweden. A bank transfer document that one can take to a convince store and they will Swish the money to your babk account. Neither of even knew that such a thing existed, and it was a month earlier than I would have expected it. Of course, that was the day I stayed overnight in Umeå for cragts night, and there was no way I would be able to bus home and get it till after work on Friday, and Lövånger doesn't have the right sort of store in the village (nor does it have a bank, which could have also delt with processing it). So Friday morning I checked with HR, logged back in, and found the hidden button,  not mentioned in the instructions, that one needs to press to couple a bank account also to the new employer,  so next month my pay should go directly to the babk.

 Since Keldor had injured his ankel on Thursday evening with a combination of twisting it and, at the same time sliding it into a rock or something whilst out picking mushrooms on the way home from work, it was too bruised to wear work shoes (the steel toes are obligatory for hus job!). Therefore,  he took Friday as a sick day, so we took Friday afternoon as a date.

He drove to Umeå arriving around lunch time. I took the afternoon as flex time, gave him a tour of my office and introduced hime to a few colleagues, and then we went to the Textile Festival happening that weekend.  I bought so e cotton yarn that I needed to mend a aweater, a massage tool of the sort that has revolving balls that press muscles, and we got to vist with our friend Krake, who lives in southern Sweden, but who was selling there.

Then I turned my paycheck into money in my bank account, and we stopped by the pet store to buy Keldor some new fish before heading home to relax for the evening. 

On Saturday Alfrin and Ranghild visited, and I had thecfun of helping her cut the fabric for a new dress, and did the fitting. It will be beautiful. A nich rich brownish orange wool twill, to wich we added som of my scrap blue diamond twill for neckline and cuffs. Over the course of Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning we got everything cut, the blue attached, and the upper body assembled on the first pas of sewing. Now "all" she needs to do to finish it is assemble and insert the shirt gores, do the second pass of hand sewing over all the sems, and hem the bottom. In addition to sewing we also grilled dinner on Saturday and did pizza on the potdoor pizza oven on Sunday for lunch. So it was a fabulous weekend , full of good company, good food, and fun projects.
