Since my last post the total hours of work on the house cleaning and renovations has slowed way down. Well, through the end of January we were still going strong, and the total hours was 253 hours combined time by the end of the month. But so far February is more about living here than fixing it up. I took the bus up to Luleå the week before last, and worked two days, and last week I drove, with the plan to work three, but leave early on Friday so I could bring some archive material that had been donated to our archives that should have gone to the Archives in Skellefteå. However, when we looked at the weather report on Thursday and saw that there would be a pretty major snowstorm on Friday, I opted to head south Thursday evening, enjoying a lovely drive, a beautiful starry night, with road that were clean and dry.

Keldor had taken the week off of work due to a problem with vertigo (one doesn't do a job that involves installing things at great height in an industrial area when one is prone to sudden dizziness if one turns one's head the wrong direction). Therefore we drove in to Skellefteå together on Friday (the snow storm meant that visibility was rather limited, so I was really glad we had only the half an hour drive, not the more than 2.5 I would have had if I hadn't changed plans) and went to a second hand store before swinging by the archives to deliver the stuff.

Then we did his dad's shopping and filled the car with another load of my stuff to take out to the house. Saturday was putting that stuff away, and Sunday a friend dropped by, so we played Trivial Pursuit (one of the things we found at the second hand store), which, since it is the Swedish version, was good practice for me. I did miss one point I should have gotten, because I heard "Skriet från vildmarken" and my brain went "never heard of that book", and I said that I had no idea who the author was. But if I had taken a moment to translate it ("Call of the Wild") I would have known that the author was Jack London. Oops.

Today has been a do laundry and work on my paper for my research kind of day. Hopefully tomorrow we will take advantage of the local recycling place being open for things like scrap metal and tires and take away some stuff. I think I will head north again on Wednesday.
