Täljsten adventures Day Five
Sep. 22nd, 2018 08:13 pmWe woke up this morning around 06:15 and decided to do a cooked breakfast this time. She had brought some eggs we hadn't used yet, so she had some fried with bread and cheese, while I scrambled mine with the quinoa, vegetables, sunflower seeds and almond meal I have been happily eating cold for the past few days. It was good hot, too.
We got on the road at 08:20 and arrived at Stop 16: Fagersjön (60.561834, 16.548039) at 10:24. This location is right on an intersection of two dirt roads, one of which leads to a shooting range, which meant that we got some funny looks from people driving past as we tried to scratch rocks in the road bed with a knife. After a bit we found a couple that I was willing to take a sample of, but I am not completely convinced, since rocks in a road could have come from anywhere.
We got back on the road at 11:00, and took our time with the drive stopping for petrol, food, photo opportunites, and arrived at Stop 17; Löddby (60,108464, 18.043520) at 13:30. That site is actually a set of four old quarries right next to one another, about one kilometre from where we had to leave the car. The above number (for Löddby 1) is the one I entered into GoogleMaps before we started tramping through the forest to find it. As we were getting close we found a hole in the ground, within which was soapstone, so I took a sample. I knew that Löddby 2 and three were meant to be on that side of Löddby 1, and suddenly I understood why thete were 4 of them. So we continued forward and soon came to a much larger hole, witha pretty lake in it, right where Löddby 1 was meant to be, so I took another sample. This time, since it was the last stop, I picked up an actual whole rock (perhaps 25 cm wide) from the lake edge. Perhaps I can make something from it later.
Then we called it good and returned to the car. The day being young (14:35) and the weathet pretty, we opted to extend our adventures. We liked the idea of a sauna so we asked google for camping places with sauna and it made a suggestion of a place half an hour south and not so far from Uppsala.
We stopped along the way at a farm that had a self service produce shop and bought some grapes, corn, and she got a honey to take home. We got to the camping place to discover that the reception was already closed for the day, the tent camping area was a long way from the sauna, and we couldn’t park next to the tent. Therefore we decided not to camp there, and drove a bit further. Then we stopped at a tiny local shop in a small village and asked for suggestions, and they recommend a near by area on a lake where people swim in the summer.
It is a pretty site and we got here early enough to go for a walk after putting up the tent and before dark, and the trail was so pretty and full of fun rocks to climbo we will go for another walk in the morning before we leave.
Tomorrow she will drop me off at Morgaine's and head home, and at 23:30 I will take the night train home.
