Road trip progress report
May. 8th, 2015 02:17 pmWe got on the road last night around 23:30. Everything we had planned to put into the trailer, and everything we wanted in the car fit there.
lord_kjardrove for around two hours whilst I read aloud to him from
hrj's The Mystic Marriage and C curled up in the back seat for the first nap. At Skellefteå I moved to the nap spot, she took the wheel, and he took the passenger seat.
At Umeå (a bit more than 1.5 hrs later I took over driving, he took the back seat nap, and she kept me company. I managed just over an hour, but then needed to pee, so we stopped at the rest area at Mosjön at about 05:30, where we decided it would be a fine place to sleep all three, he in the driver seat, slightly reclined, me curled up in the back seat nest, and she across the front, with his lap for a pillow.
We slept till 07:30 and then she took the nest for more sleep, he drove the hour to Skulleberget, and I took the passenger seat.
We first took the trail up the hill to the cave (former beach cave, before the land rose), but didn't go to the peak as the cloud level was just above where we were, then down to the visitor centre, where we chatted a long time with one of the employees about geology, biology, and the SCA.
We got back on the road at 11:30, with him driving, me in the nest and her in the passenger seat. Both of us slept for the hour or so it took to get to Skellefteå, where I am pleased to report that the highway bypass is open, so we didn't have to drive through the city.
Now we are about 40 minutes south of Sundsvall, he is driving, I have the passenger seat, and she the back seat. This makes us about 1/3 to half way to Double Wars...
