I had a bit of left over pie crust dough from yesterday's pasties that needed baking, and several small pears that were ripe enough that it was a Good Idea (TM) to use them sooner rather than later. Therefore I tossed three small handfuls of almonds into the food processor, ground them, added the pears (minus the stem and seeds and the tiny bit of core holding the seeds in) and ground it some more. I then added enough milk to make the contents a bit creamy, and a couple of spoons of oat flour. I didn't see the need to add any sugar (the pears were plenty sweet) or spices, so I just put it as is into four tiny tart pans lined with the dough (flour-butter-egg-water-salt) and baked them for 20 to 30 minutes at 200 C. Yum! I am not normally a fan of cooked fruit, but I love puddings made of almonds and milk, and I am very happy with how these came out. I would make them again, should I have pears that need using...

Life in LuleƄ is grand, but it remains busy enough and exciting enough that I have not been making the time to go back and finish up that paper summarizing the results of my research. Shortly before Double Wars I managed to compete another small section, and sent my erstwhile boss a copy of the draft in progress (and a note indicating that I know it is no where near done yet). When I returned I had a reply listing a variety of topics that I need to address that hadn't yet appeared in the outline portion of what I had sent him, including some previous experimental studies I need to cite. Today, at long last, I have opened some of those studies, read three of them, and added paragraphs to the introduction section of the paper mentioning who/what those studies were. That leaves four more that still need to be read and cited before I move on to the other sections that need work. Hopefully now that I am back on it I shall return to daily progress, instead of once every week or three...

Now to go get some exercise before [livejournal.com profile] archinonlive comes home and we head out to his parent's place this evening.
