the view out my window
Feb. 10th, 2011 09:27 amI have mentioned before how much I love winter and snow, and therefore how happy I am here in LuleƄ even if one doesn't take into account the part about being in love. I don't think I've mentioned another nice feature of where we are--the apartment complex we are in is at the edge of a lake, and our apartment is at the edge of the complex. As a result the view out my living room window, while sadly lacking mountains, is still lovely:

Note that the blocky pile of snow in the foreground is from the roof, which they shoveled last week. When I first arrived the view was even prettier, as it had been cold enough for huge ice crystals to grow on all of the trees, transforming them all into beautiful crystalline sculptures. Alas, we had a couple of days with temps hovering just below and just above freezing a week or so ago, and while it has cooled, nicely, back down we haven't grown new ice crystals on the trees, yet (but I am hopeful that we will at least once more before winter's end).
This window faces south east, so later in the morning it is necessary to close the blinds on the curtain by my computer to stop the sun from being in my eyes.
