little bits of progress
Nov. 22nd, 2010 09:52 pmToday was a good working day--steady progress on data processing. Nothing exciting to share about it, but pleased to have accomplished it. I don't remember if I've mentioned here or not, but we started my final experiment of this job last Thursday, and it is happily running. Another week or two and we can download and see how it went.
I am so not getting as much exercise as usual this month. I am reasonably certain that part of that is the looming deadline of year end to have "everything" done for this job and be moved out of The Closet. Therefore I was actually pleased when I ran out of cheese yesterday--it meant I couldn't put off going to the store to get more any longer. The store that carries the cheese I like is a full 35 minute walk away, so that trip counts as exercise for today. I really hope that the next place I live has somewhere pretty in walking distance--the other reason I'm not as inclined to go for walks here as I usually am is it is all just city, no matter which way I go. Yes, there is a cute old brick church from the 14th century on the path I took to the store today, but that is the only highlight of that walk.
I followed a link to yet another blog on the TSA airport issues that are going around just now. This one about one man's experience convincing everyone near him in line ot opt out of the scanner. The sentence in it that really got my attention as quite probably too true was "Unfortunately, people aren't as afraid of a police state as they are of cancer. I maintain that I used my powers for Good."
It isn't even 22:00 yet, but I am thinking I should turn off the computer, go do yoga, read my 1000 words of geologic literature, and then either finish attaching the new, improved lacing to the dress I'll be wearing to the SCA event in Stockholm this weekend, or just go to sleep, depending on how I feel after doing everything else...
