abstract submitted
Jan. 18th, 2010 08:57 pmOn Friday I sent my boss a draft of an abstract for comment, with a couple of questions. He normally replies to e-mails at least once on a weekend, so I was hopeful he'd send me a reply and I could get it submitted before today (since today is the deadline). However, as it turns out, he managed to drop his laptop, doing very, very bad things to his screen, and so didn't actually get to read my abstract over the weekend. He came and read it on my computer and told me what he thought I should change, then returned to his office to use an external monitor to back up everything on his computer. (Possibly before sending it off somewhere for repair? He didn't specify.) Thanks to his input I quickly managed to finish the abstract and got it submitted by mid-day. I then went home and got a nap (staying up late last night was probably not smart, given that I'd stayed up all night on Saturday) before returning to the office this evening to make some progress on that paper I've committed to myself to write before the end of the month.
I've just added a bit, and gotten the two figures I've referenced thus far properly coordinated with the document, but am now tired again, so I'm calling it a day. With luck I'll get to sleep early tonight and be fully back on day shift for the rest of the week.
This morning was the Monday market--the first one since my return to Milan. I think I may have gotten too enthusiastic in my shopping--the produce just looks so much better here than what is available in the local supermarkets, and I wound up filling two mesh bags quite full of yummy fruit, veg. and fresh eggs. It was a rather heavy load (good thing the market is on the very next street!), and it will be a challenge to eat it all before next week's market. However, if I eat the more perishable stuff first, the rest should survive till the following week, if need be. One of my impulse buys was some dried strawberries at the stand that has various dried fruits and nuts. They taste good, but I rather suspect that lots of sugar was used in the preserving process--they are nearly sweet enough to be something that
clovis_t will eat. Nonetheless, I diced a few of them fine and mixed them into my muesli, just for the variety.
