kareina: (me)
I've just been speaking with my friend, [livejournal.com profile] josiestraka, and we are hammering together a bit of a plan. She's going to fly to the West (from Seattle) & meet me there for June Crown, then she and I will drive a rental car north and enjoy a road trip. I'm thinking it might be nice to meet up with folk in the Glyn Dwfn area that Sunday evening (21 June), but other than [livejournal.com profile] vesta_aurelia I'm not certain I've got contact info for folk in southern Summits any more, and dont' really know who is left there--I know lots of you moved to Portland. If you've got contact info for folk down there who might like to see me, please let me know.

From there I'm thinking head to Eugene on Monday--anyone there up for visitors then? It would be good to see people there!

Tuesday we'd like to meet up with Portland folk--anyone want company? We will want to return the rental car in Portland, as from there we will meet up with one of her friends and get a ride out to the beach house they are all renting for that week in Long Beach WA. Who wants to hang out with us and be the place that we are fetched to the beach? Anyone want to come visit us at the beach house? Apparently it is too full up to offer overnight accommodation, but day time company would be welcome. The rest of the week the beach house is "home base", but being only a couple hours from Portland, I can easily be fetched, dropped off, or borrow a car to see people, if anyone is interested in my company. That Friday I need to head to Seattle to meet up with my family--it will be the first time all four of us girls have been in one place since my step-dad died, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing them again, and to meeting my nieces and nephews, some of whom, I'm told, are now old enough to be people, rather than leaky bundles able to only communicate basic emotions/needs rather than thoughts. (no, I'm not a baby person, why do you ask?)

So, the schedule is filling up fast--there are lots and lots of people I want to see, how many of them want to see me?

Today's progress report: Not enough progress! Wednesday's night's work I took a break to bake a birthday cake for [livejournal.com profile] clovis_t and had it frosted and ready when he got up on Thursday. I got a lift into town with him, since he was working that day and picked up my passport and Visa, which did arrive soon enough that I could have made West Kingdom A&S, but I couldn't be certain that it would when I booked the flights, and I so need the extra time to finish up here, anyway. I then borrowed the car, came home, and got some much needed sleep (but not enough!) before getting up around 16:00 to bring the car back in. Got there a bit before 18:00, as he was getting off of work, and we handed the key over to a friend of ours who just bought the car. (Apparently she commented to a table full of people last week that she needed a car, but if someone came up to her and said "I'm selling a car for ____" she'd take it. As it happened, she happened to name the exact price range which [livejournal.com profile] clovis_t had decided to ask for his car, which he is selling, in part, to have extra cash for his travel to Scotland to see family. Therefore, he promptly told her that yes, he was selling a car for just that much, and after a bit of negotiations, the car is now hers. This means we need to beg rides from his folks from here on out.) From there she dropped us off at the restaurant, where he and I had a lovely meal with his parents to celebrate his birthday (dinner for them, brunch for me!). by the time we got home from that the fact that my sleep was still short rationed caught up with me, and I needed a couple hours nap before getting up around 22:00. Since then I've accomplished a bit of uni work, but far more in the catagory of "useful tasks", like working on travel plans, updating my financial records to tell it about the $170 fee for the visa--aside, that is quite a hefty fee for a visa wherein the form said that there is no application fee--I guess that is for "postage and handling" on the part of the Hobart consulate, who shipped the passport to Melbourne and had it shipped back to her) and other misc. expenses. Not it is nearly 07:00, and I think I'd best get back to work--there are still 98 figures in chapter two which need to be made camera-ready, and a reasonable amount of edits/corrections to do as well...
