and it is colour coordinated, too
Aug. 19th, 2008 09:53 pmI just found out that not only does his mouse come with nine buttons, it has a little LED display, which he has set up to be red lights if he's got it set to "general use", green when the settings (changes to mouse speed and which buttons cause what actions) are set for playing most of his computer games, and blue for one specific game, whcih needs different settings from the other. He says that he can set up other profiles when he figures out what other sorts of setting arrangements he might need.
Makes my pen and drawing tablet seem downright simple!

I enjoyed the day
Aug. 19th, 2008 10:38 pmI spent the first part of the day finishing up my CV (Thank You
massaria and everyone else who had helpful suggestions!) and sent it off both to the one department in the Mists with whom I've been corresponding about a possible post-doc position and also to the person in Italy with whom I've been collaborating on that paper which is currently "in press" (available to download in advance copies now), asking her if she knows of anyone in Europe who is looking for a post-doc. (Much though I'd love to head "home" to the West Kingdom, Drachenwald would be so cool!)
Then I cut out a new modern skirt, having literally worn the last one I made to rags. No, I don't have time for a new sewing project, but the lovely, talented, wonderful
madryn_1960 has a sewing machine and a willingness to assemble the skirt for me. While I still prefer hand-sewn clothing, since I do wear store-bought modern clothes, I think I can accept a machine stitched skirt, particularly when it will be nice and long and full--a good dancing skirt! Besides, I need this skirt *now* not months from now when the thesis is finished.
After all of that work-avoidance I finally picked up my actual uni work around 20:00, and in the nearly three hours since wrote 438 words and created five new figures and tables. While that isn't *really* enough for one day, I'm getting sleepy, and still want to go for a walk (not having done one yet today!), so I will put it down here. Besides, it is a fine place to call it quits--today's sample, unlike the others in that region, actually has good results for the calculations determining the temperature and pressure for the garnet core! Perhaps this means that it will also be possible to do the calculations for the changes due to fractionation going from core to rim. If I leave that question unanswered it increases the odds of my picking it up in the morning, rather than letting the day slip past before getting to work like I did today...
