Friday was a somewhat exhausting day )

I'm not really certain what to do with the ipod. Yah, I suppose I *could* put music on it, but honestly, it is bad enough having to stick hearing aids in my ears, I am not interested in wearing earphones! If I am going to listen to music, it can either be played by someone present, or it can be on a stereo which fills the room with sound, so that everyone present can enjoy it.

After all of that, I was, not surprisingly, worn out! As a result, today was a seriously slow starting day. I managed to get up around 09:00 and start some laundry, enjoyed breakfast and e-mail/LJ and then hung up my clothes and went for a walk with [livejournal.com profile] baronsnorri to the local waterfall. The mountain, which is still covered in snow, is truly beautiful this time of year! But after that short walk, I was sleepy again, and returned to bed and didn't wake up till after 13:30! It then took a few more hours of reading e-mail and fiction before I was, finally, ready to start work for the day. But, as usually happens, once I started working I lost all track of time, and the next thing I knew nearly six hours had elapsed and it was well after midnight! Only 493 words written during that time, but 7 figures and tables were created!

I very much love LiveJournal. As [livejournal.com profile] kahnegabs explained to me when I was new here, it is like a quiet, intimate, coffee shop wherein one can sit down and actually visit with one's friends (she was comparing it to MySpace, which she likens to a noisy sports-bar full of neon and too much noise to really connect with folks, even if everyone is there). However, I have also been enjoying reading things in the GeoBlog Sphere, particularly posts by All of My Faults Are Stress-Related and Geotripper, and other science blogs like Female Science Professor. Enjoying reading their posts has had me thinking more about what I've learned thus far, and what I know that might be worth sharing, and, perhaps, inspiring others to get into science. Therefore, I've started a new blog, wherein I will write about my love of learning, science in general, and geology in particular. I don't expect I will post there often, it will be more for things along the line of complete essays, while this journal is a way to keep in touch with my friends and loved ones. Therefore, this one will link to that one, but that one will *not* point back to this one. This one is for the "real me" to share both my good news and the trials and tribulations I face with those of you who care about me, and it is where I go to find out what wonderful or challenging things are happening to you, my friends and family. But, since it is something I've been up to, it seemed worth sharing the news of that blog here. Feel free to let me know what you think. Now that I've written 1000+ words on how I became a geologist, it is time to go write a 1000+ on the results I've gotten with my current geological research...
