Your tale of shopping reminded me of the time a few years ago that Svava and I decided to go fabric shopping, not because we needed fabric (ha ha) but because the fabric stores were air conditioned, and it was almost 100F outside. As I recall, neither of us purchased anything, but it was a fun afternoon. Hot weather makes me miserable, and I have discovered that napping in the afternoon really helps. Also the libraries here in Portland are air conditioned, as are many of the buses and MAX trains. Not to excessively cold temperatures, but enough for comfort.
