I think I should check the uni mail room more often--it has been a few days since last I looked, and in that time my Tournaments Illuminated, The Dragon's Tale (Drachenwald Newsletter), GSAToday, a bank statement from Alaska, and a package had arrived. The package is particularly exciting! I think I mentioned after Drachenwald October Crown that I'd failed one intelligence test while at the event. I purchased this lovely knife and spoon and s-hook from which to hang them from my belt, and only hours later remembered that I was traveling via carry-on luggage only, and that there was no way the airlines was going to let me take the knife on board the plane, or through security at all.

Fortunately for me, the autocrat team was extremely kind, and said that they would send them to me via snail-mail. The first week after Crown I checked the mail room regularly, knowing that it was too soon, but since then I've been kind of forgetting to check, so all I know is that it takes less than two and one half weeks for a package to arrive here from Germany. Volker deserves an extra special thank-you, though, because in addition to the feast set, the package contained three pewter coins which weren't there when I gave him the items to be shipped. What a truly delightful surprise!

[livejournal.com profile] clovis_t hosted a couple of CouchSurfers at our place this weekend. They travelled to Milan from Hungary to see a concert, and allowed some extra time to do a bit of sightseeing. I am very glad that he said "yes" to these guests, as they were truly delightful people. I didn't get to spent much time with them, as I had to work during the day, but I spent a few hours wandering around town with them on Sunday evening and very much enjoyed the conversation. Milan is such a popular destination for travellers I think that if we set our CS status to "yes, definitely", we'd get requests to sleep on our couch seven days a week. However, I don't have time for that, so my status is set to "maybe" and I am very clear in my profile that I don't have much time and don't wish to make plans more than one week in advance. Since changing to that setting I'm getting fewer requests than he receives, who still has his status set to "yes". He's just said "yes" to a couple of girls from Russia, who will arrive Halloween night. I hope they are even half as good company as the Hungarian guests who left today.

On the uni front, my second experiment continues to run. I went downstairs this morning intending to fill and weld shut another couple of capsules for the third experiment. However, just as I was ready to start the process my boss came in to say that he needed to use the welder to do something to help the technician get the new press operational. So I came back upstairs and found other things to do, and made a point of not returning till after they'd gone home for the day. Alas, at that point I was getting a bit tired, so I only did one capsule, and I'm not completely positive that it is sealed properly. Time to head home and get some sleep, I think...

I almost forgot to mention--I made the knife-sheath on site right after purchasing it (and before I remembered that I wouldn't be able to carry it home with me), so that I wouldn't worry about the knife-point catching on the fabric of my dress when it hangs from the holder on my belt. I decided that I wanted to do finger-loop braiding for the edging and ties, but after setting the project up I suddenly couldn't remember the mechanics of the process. It took probably five minutes of asking folk in the hall if they know how to do finger-loop braiding before I found someone who was able to give me 30 seconds of reminder so that I could do the braid. I think it would have been prettier if I'd have alternated the loops by colour, rather than having one clump of each colour, but oh well, it is done.

What a beautiful set! The sheath you made for the knife really finishes it off nicely.
