happy things

Just 'cause
two tiny gold capsules welded shut; ready to learn the next step in setting up the experiments I'll be doing
quidnon has joined us; I've found many of the good people I met at the textile forum on Facebook.
the commute between The Closet in which I sleep/cook/store stuff and the office in which I work and hang out on the internet is 2 minutes, but includes 5 flights of stairs (four one way, one the other), so I still get exercise running back and forth
my basil plant survived the night (yes, I know, they take longer than that to show it if they are going to die)
Dance Practice tomorrow night! Several people from CouchSurfing said they'd come out, and the lady I met through the 12th Century Garb list says she will be there
still doing Yoga every day--haven't missed a day since
clovis_t and I started doing it together on a daily basis, and it will be five years in November
assuming I read my 1000 when I finish typing this list, I'll be up to two full weeks of remembering to read it every day
I'm loving being slender--this is the skinniest I've been since pre-adolescence, and it feels good.
My colleagues here at U Milano are all nice people, and I'm enjoying working with them
The Alps are only 50 km away, and I'll have time to visit them again, soon, I hope
I have been blessed with many happy relationships over the years, and am still good friends with all of them (unless you count the ones with whom I lost touch due to frequent moves in a pre-internet world)
There is an amazing amount of pretty building stone in use in Milan--the stairs at the building where my Italian Language class will be are mylonitic! (this means that they have been intensely deformed, which is a cool thing to a metamorphic petrologist)
