Way behind on updates
Having much fun in Scotland.
sismith42 was nice enough to post a report of our adventure on Friday, which will do for now, as I'm tired. With luck I'll post about the fun geology field trip on Saturday and the conference soon, before I forget. Suffice it to say I've been having too much fun to post.
There is a man at the conference with the longest hair I've ever seen. I noticed that his braid was looped back up on itself, compared the length of each of the segments, and asked him if it touches the floor when he uncoils it. Yes. Yes it does. Serious hair envy. (He also did the most interesting talk of the morning.)

Also, further to the menopause discussion, technically, the end of your very last period ever is menopause. Everything leading up to that is peri-menopause. Most common age for peri-men to start is at around 43. The body begins to "act-up" in various subtle ways from then on, gradually increaing in complexity and severity until the day one crosses that final line. My own peri began at 43. Really subtle, weight changes, period changes, breast changes etc. Didn't realise what was happening until I looked back years later.
Not saying that's your issue, just saying you're not that far outside the time-line. Worthy of note, I think.
